- How much does a US ZIP code database cost?
- The full US ZIP code database from zipcodemax is $49 as a one-time download — no subscription. A single state or territory is $7. Complete commercial ZIP demographic datasets are more commonly sold for roughly $100–$500 or via a monthly subscription.
- What's included in the ZIP code dataset?
- One CSV row per ZIP code (Census ZCTA) with 53 columns: total population; race and ethnicity counts (White, Black, Native American, Asian, Other, Hispanic or Latino); population by sex and 10-year age band, plus calculated male and female population totals and percentages (always summing to 100%); median age; median, average, and per-capita income; households above $100k and $150k; calculated total homeowner income and income density per square mile (overall and homeowner-only); total, occupied, owner-occupied, and renter-occupied housing units; median value of owner-occupied homes; population density plus calculated housing-unit, owner-occupied-unit, and renter-occupied-unit density per square mile; telephone area code(s) serving the ZIP; plus ZIP, city, county, state, land area, and Census GEOID.
- Is US Census ZIP code data free?
- Yes — the underlying data is from the US Census Bureau's American Community Survey and is public domain. The Census publishes it free, but spread across dozens of separate tables with no coordinates. zipcodemax packages all of it, joined and cleaned, into a single ready-to-use CSV.
- How current is the data, and are updates included?
- It reflects the 2019–2023 American Community Survey 5-year estimates, the most recent 5-year release. Purchases are one-time and do not include future refreshes; a new Census vintage is released as a new file.
- How is the file delivered?
- As a single UTF-8 CSV, downloaded immediately after payment. The download link is valid for 30 days and can be re-issued at any time from the Re-download page using your Stripe Checkout Session ID.
- Are these USPS ZIP codes or ZCTAs?
- ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs), the Census approximation of USPS ZIPs. They align for the large majority of populated ZIPs. PO-box-only and some unique ZIPs have no ZCTA and are not included, which is why the count is about 33,774 rather than roughly 41,000.
- Can I use it for client work?
- Yes. Analysis, marketing-territory planning, and reports delivered to your clients are all permitted. You may not resell or redistribute the dataset itself as a standalone product. See the license page for full terms.
- Do you offer refunds?
- Because it is delivered instantly as a digital file, sales are final. If a file is corrupt or does not match what is described, contact support within 14 days for a replacement or refund.
